A week after my father passed away, I made this mini zine to cope. This mini zine is just a small excerpt of a bigger project.
While he was terminally ill, I started working on a graphic novel about about my relationship with him. It will focus on a little girl named Trinidad who's father is sick and her best friend, a toy skeleton named Pancho. Together, they navigate fear, heartache, death, and grief beginning with sweet memories of better days to deep into illness, his death, our journey to Mexico to bury his ashes and the healing process that followed.
My ultimate goal of the graphic novel is to share my story, share who my father was, and hopefully help children cope with the loss of a parent and understand death.
